Dr. Ronald “Sonny” Faulseit is an archaeologist interested in the social and political organization of ancient societies. Specifically, I research how societies reorganize after the collapse or fragmentation of political institutions. I conduct research in the Oaxaca Valley of Mexico, at a site called Dainzú. Because the Zapotec people who live in the adjacent communities are the direct descendants of the people who once occupied the archaeological site, my fieldwork has been a richly rewarding cultural experience. I look forward to sharing this experience and others with students at Pierce College. I received a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Tulane University, and I also have an M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame.
